Bank Account Ledger — Overview
A ready-to-deploy PHP and MySQL account ledger. Open accounts, post deposits and withdrawals, transfer between accounts and print a statement with a running balance. Transactions cannot be edited or deleted, the balance can never go negative, and a transfer either moves the money completely or not at all.

Balances that always add up
Every transaction is recorded with the balance after it. Balances are checked in our tests against the sum of all lines, and against the last running balance on each statement.
Transfers that cannot half-happen
A transfer debits one account and credits the other in a single database transaction, locking both accounts in a fixed order. In our tests ten simultaneous transfers in opposite directions completed with no deadlock and no money created or lost.
No overdrafts, even under load
Eight simultaneous withdrawals of 300 from a balance of 1,000 result in exactly three succeeding and 100 remaining.
An honest audit trail
There is no edit or delete on transactions. Mistakes are corrected by posting an opposite transaction, and each line carries a unique transaction number.
