A ready-to-deploy PHP and MySQL booking system for a vehicle rental business. Search which vehicles are free for a date range, book one for a customer, hand it over, take it back and charge automatically for late returns. The same vehicle can never be booked twice for overlapping dates.

This is a rental booking and returns desk, not a full fleet-management suite. Key Features
Overlapping bookings are blocked
Each booking locks the vehicle row while it checks for clashes, so eight people booking the same car for overlapping dates at the same moment produce only non-overlapping bookings. Back-to-back bookings (one ends the day before the next begins) are allowed.
Price is fixed when you book
The daily rate is copied onto the booking. Raising the rate next month does not change what an existing customer was quoted.
Honest hand-over and return
A vehicle cannot be handed over before the booking starts, cannot be returned unless it went out, and a return can only be recorded once, so a double-click never charges the late fee twice.
Late charges without arithmetic
Return a vehicle three days late at Rs.1,000 a day and the system adds Rs.4,500 (1.5x the daily rate for each extra day). Change the multiplier in config.php.
