Install a PHP AMC Management System

By Prakash Panthi, Founder · Published August 25, 2026 · Updated September 22, 2026

This is the real, complete process for installing the AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) Management System — a PHP application built on the CakePHP framework, with MySQL — on shared hosting or a local XAMPP setup. Follow it in order and you'll have it running in 20–30 minutes; every step below matches the product's actual file structure, not a generic template.

What you'll need

  • PHP 7.2+ (CakePHP 3.x's required minimum) with the usual extensions your host enables by default: intl, mbstring, pdo_mysql
  • MySQL 5.7+ or MariaDB 10+
  • Hosting with phpMyAdmin access, or XAMPP for local testing
  • The product zip file — it includes both the application code and a separate .sql database dump

Step 1 — Choose Your Hosting (or Set Up XAMPP Locally)

If you're testing before deploying, download XAMPP and start the Apache and MySQL modules from its control panel. For a real deployment, this product runs on standard PHP + MySQL shared hosting — CakePHP doesn't need anything exotic, just a reasonably current PHP version. We use and recommend Hostinger for exactly this kind of install: PHP 8.x, MySQL, phpMyAdmin, and FTP access are all included on their basic shared-hosting plans, which is all this product needs.

Step 2 — Extract and Upload the Files

Extract the downloaded zip. Unlike the other products in our catalog, this one's application folder (commonly named amc/) sits alongside a separate .sql file — both come out of the same zip, but they go to different places. On XAMPP, copy the amc folder's contents into htdocs. On shared hosting, upload everything inside that folder to public_html via FTP or your host's file manager. There's no Composer install to run — the vendor folder is already included.

Step 3 — Create Your MySQL Database

In your hosting control panel (or XAMPP's phpMyAdmin at localhost/phpmyadmin), create a new database and a database user with full privileges on it. Note the database name, username, password, and host — you'll need all four in the next step.

Step 4 — Update the Database Connection Settings

Open config/app.php inside the extracted application folder and find the Datasources → default block. Set host, username, password, and database to match what you created in Step 3. On XAMPP, the default is host 127.0.0.1, username root, with no password.

Step 5 — Import the Database

The product's database dump is a standalone .sql file at the root of the extracted zip, separate from the application folder. In phpMyAdmin, select the database you created in Step 3, open the Import tab, choose that file, and click Go. This creates every table CakePHP expects, already populated with the default admin account.

Step 6 — Log In and Change the Default Password

Visit your domain (or localhost/your-folder-name on XAMPP) in a browser. The dump seeds a default admin account — username admin, password admin. Log in with that, then change the password immediately from the admin panel before this goes anywhere near real contracts or customer data.

Common installation errors

Blank page or "Missing Database Connection Configuration"

CakePHP fails loudly and specifically when config/app.php doesn't match a real, reachable database — double-check host, username, password, and database name from Step 4, and confirm the database user actually has privileges granted on that database.

"Missing Controller" or routing errors right after install

This usually means the web server is being pointed at the application folder's root instead of its webroot subfolder, or that mod_rewrite isn't enabled on Apache. On most shared hosts this works out of the box once the folder is uploaded correctly; on a custom VPS setup, confirm AllowOverride All is set for the directory.

Import fails partway through in phpMyAdmin

Shared hosts sometimes cap upload size or execution time for large SQL imports. If the .sql file is too large for a single import, use phpMyAdmin's "Partial import" option, or ask your host to temporarily raise upload_max_filesize and max_execution_time.

PHP version warnings or deprecation notices

This product is verified against current PHP versions. If your host defaults to an older PHP release, switch the PHP version for your domain from your hosting control panel — most hosts, including Hostinger, let you do this per-site without any code changes.
