Hotel Management System PHP: Download, Install & Run

Setting up a PHP + MySQL hotel management system takes about 10 minutes if you follow the steps in order. This guide covers both local setup with XAMPP and deployment on shared hosting.

What you'll need

• PHP 8.0 or higher
• MySQL 5.7+ or MariaDB 10+
• XAMPP (for local testing) or shared hosting with phpMyAdmin
• The project zip file and its included .sql database file

Step 1 — Install a local server (skip if using hosting)

Download and install XAMPP, then start the Apache and MySQL modules from the XAMPP Control Panel.

Step 2 — Extract the project

Extract the downloaded zip into htdocs (XAMPP) or public_html (shared hosting).

Step 3 — Create the database

Open phpMyAdmin, create a new database, select it, go to the Import tab, and choose the project's .sql file. Click Go.

Step 4 — Update database credentials

Open the project's database connection file and set your database name, username, and password to match what you just created. On XAMPP, the default username is root with no password.

Step 5 — Run the application

Visit the project URL in your browser. Log in using the default admin credentials listed in the project's documentation, then change the password immediately from the admin panel.
