Lesson 8 of 8 3 min read Free course

Free Drive

No goal this time — make any path you like and watch the robot follow it exactly. This is your own program.

Play

Build any path with the arrows, try a loop with ×N, and press Go. The robot does exactly what you tell it — no more, no less. If it drives off the edge, that is a bug: find the step and fix it.

Make any path you like. Try a loop. Then Go.

For the grown-up

Open play is how children make coding their own. Ask them to predict where the robot will end up before pressing Go — predicting the result is real programming thinking.

What next?

If your child enjoyed these, our courses go further: Little Coders (free, ages 3–5), Code Play (ages 5–9), Python for Kids and First Web Page (ages 10–14). See them all on the coding for kids page.
