IF it is raining, THEN take an umbrella — the child's first "if".

Look at the picture and say it together: "It is raining." Then ask, "So what do we take?" and let the child tap the answer.

"If… then…" is a rule. Make some up at home: "IF the light is red, THEN we stop." Let the child finish the sentence.
